Choosing the Best Vacuum Cleaner

Author: Kriss Standke

There are many types and brands of vacuum cleaners. When choosing the best vacuum cleaner for your needs there are many things to take into consideration. Upright vacuum cleaners and canister vacuums are the most common. Back-pack vacuums are widely used for commercial cleaning. Built-in or central vacuum cleaners along with robotic vacuum cleaners are among the newest types on the market today. Smaller handheld vacuums and wet vacs or wet/dry vacuums are some other specialty type cleaners available today.

Upright vacuum cleaners, while the most common, are not always the best when it comes to suction power. Canister or cylinder designed vacuum cleaners often have more suction power and get into tighter areas due to the design and maneuverability of the power heads. Built-in or central vacuum cleaners, the latest and greatest vacuums on the market, locate the suction motor and bag to a location in your home where the noise may be diminished as well having the largest collection capacity. With a central vacuum cleaner, vacuum inlets are strategically installed throughout your home and the hose is usually 25 feet long, thus allowing for great range of movement without changing inlets. Plastic pipes connect the vacuum outlets to the central unit. The vacuum had may have beaters or may be un powered depending upon the surface it's to be used on. The collection unit is often large enough so that it only needs to be emptied once in a years time.

While the smaller handheld vacuum cleaners are great for small jobs were cleaning up spills, they just cannot replace the power and cleaning ability of the larger models. The newer robotic vacuum cleaners may be programmed to clean automatically while you were away. These cleaners often use sweepers rather than suction power for day to day cleaning. Wet vacs are a specialized form of the canister vacuum and are used mainly for cleaning up liquid spills. They can accommodate both wet and dry debris and may be equipped with and exhaust port to allow for reversing on the airflow. Backpack vacuums while mainly used for commercial cleaning may also used in the home. They are essentially canister vacuums that may be carried on your back.

Today's consumer is offered a wide variety of choices and styles colors and features with new vacuum cleaners. Most models built today will last for many years minimal maintenance. Among the most popular models today are the Dyson, for its unique collection system; and the Dyson vacuum for its HEPA filtration system. The choice ultimately comes down to your specific needs and uses.

There are a few key things to consider when purchasing a new vacuum cleaner. Make sure you consider the types of surfaces you will be cleaning. If you suffer from allergies make sure that your new vacuum is equipped with a HEPA filtration system. Consider all the attachments you may need and definitely try out different models see how they handle, how heavy they are, and if they are comfortable for you to use before you purchase. Another important factor is the amount of noise vacuum creates some newer models contain installation around the motor to cut down on the noise generated during operation. Other things to take into consideration like cord length, upholstery brushes and other needed attachments, headlights, dust collection bags or bag less with a plastic container, and motor power should be considered in your decision making.

No matter style or brand you choose always make sure the warrantee and or service plan meet your specific needs.
