Redskins Get Ambushed in the Lone Star State!

Author: Bob Acton

The Washington Redskins once again were the flavor of the month for most prognosticators who felt that the addition of former offensive coordinator, Al Saunders, and a series of roster additions would make them favorite in odds in the NFC East in 2006.

Here we are at the end of week 2 in the NFL season, with plenty of football betting going on at the sportsbooks, and the Skins are in a rather dubious position of being 0-2. They have company from some other highly regarded clubs such as KC, Tampa, and Carolina. While many will point to the pathetic play of the offense, the defense that was so highly regarded last year has not done their part at all.

The Cowboys, much like the Vikings last week, stayed committed to the run and thus reached that magical total of 100, which in the NFL almost guarantees victory. When the offense is struggling, the defense needs to step up and steal a victory and that's not occurring.

Here is another telling tale in regards to their woes. As many as 18 penalties for 172 yards in 2 games tells me that the presence of discipline and accountability is void in the Washington locker room and that points to Joe Gibbs.

Washington must turn around in six days and head back to Texas to face the woeful Houston team, that is 0-2 as well. The Texans have not being playing exactly chopped liver in the Eagles and the Colts and will not lie down at home against the anemic Washington attack.

While many will suggest it's early in the young season, yesterday's Denver-Kansas City game may be looked back upon by Denver as a pivotal win. They were being outscored by an undermanned Chiefs team that had a quarterback Damon Huard making his first start in six seasons.

The crowd was getting all over Jake the Snake Plummer, but he stayed the course and they eked out a 9-6 victory. They now head to New England for a rematch of last year's playoff game won by Denver.

The public will be all over the Patriots at home and it's also due to the fact that the Broncos have not covered a game this year as favorite. I like them as puppies!
